Swim Kids at Bay Hundred Pool Program

Sponsored by the Miles River Yacht Club Foundation, Inc Swim Program and partnered with St. Michaels Community Center this program is only offered at Bay Hundred Community Pool. Class sizes are limited and applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Children are limited to two free sessions of swim lessons per child thru the Swim Kids Program. You may choose which two sessions of swim lessons that your children will participate in.

There will be an End of Season Party that will be held on Friday, August 14 from 6 to 8 pm *Rain Date Sunday August 16. All participants will also receive a T-Shirt.

Any additional sessions must be paid in full to Talbot County Parks and Recreation by the deadline and a separate registration form below must be completed.  


To register you must complete the entire registration form and return the form by the following dates to be eligible to participate in the Swim Kids Program. All registration forms must be returned to Talbot County Parks and Recreation or St. Michaels Community Center. Registration is not available online for this program. 

Session 1-Deadline Monday, June 29
Session 2-Deadline Monday, July 13
Session 3-Deadline Monday, July 27


Swim Lessons:

All Learn to Swim registration must be completed at least one week before the class begins. Evening classes are only offered at Bay Hundred Community Pool. To register please complete a registration form or register online by clicking one of the links below. Scholarships are available to apply please stop by the office.

Session I: July 6-16

All Learn to Swim classes introduce games to make learning new skills an enjoyable and fun experience for the child.


Classes:

Me and My Little One
This class is offered to children 18 months to 2 years old. It will teach the basics of bubble blowing, supported front and back float, locomotion along the wall, assisted front and back kick, introduction to alternating arms, and basic water and sun safety skills. Games will be introduced to make learning new skills an enjoyable and fun experience for the child. The swim instructor will work with the child as well as the guardian in learning new skills. Adults must accompany the child in the water.
Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. 

Registration Fee: $40.00 Per Session

Time: 11:00 – 11:30 AM or 6:00-6:30 PM at BHCP
When: Monday-Thursday  


Water Exploration Level I
This class is offered for the beginning swimmer ages 3 and up. It emphasizes comfort in the water, bobbing, front and back float, front and back glide with kick, introduction to alternating arms and basic water and sun safety skills. 

Registration Fee: $40.00 Per Session
Where: GMCP or BHCP
Time: 9:30 – 10:00 AM or 6:00-6:30 PM at BHCP
When: Monday-Thursday


Fundamental Water Skills Level II
This class is offered to swimmers ages 3 and up who have passed level one or are able to be fully submerged for up to 3 seconds. It emphasizes comfort in the water, beginning back stroke, beginning forward crawl, introduction to rhythmic breathing, front and back floating, and progress from supported to unsupported swimming.

Registration Fee: $40.00 Per Session
Where: GMCP or BHCP
Time: 10:00 – 10:30 AM or 6:30-7:00 PM at BHCP
When: Monday-Thursday


Stroke Development Level III

This class is offered to swimmers ages 5 and up who have passed level two or are able to submerged and retrieve an object in chest deep water. They also must be able to jump into chest deep water unassisted, and be able to swim without a bubble or flotation device. The child will learn to coordinate front and back crawls with rhythmic breathing, elementary diving skills, treading water, introduction to breast stroke and water and sun safety skills.

Time: 10:30 – 11:00 AM or 7:00-7:30 PM at BHCP
When: Monday-Thursday 


Stroke & Turn Level IV

This class is offered to swimmers ages 5 and up who have passed level three and can easily swim laps unassisted. This is advanced training for swimmers to perfect all swim strokes. It will help to improve endurance, fundamentals and speed.

Junior Lifeguard Training

Youth ages 12-15 years wanting to learn what is expected of a lifeguard can join us for a two week training session to help prepare them for the lifeguard course. The goal of this aquatics program is to “wet” the appetites of youth who may not have considered lifeguarding as part of their future. All
registrants are required to pass the deep end swim test. 

Junior Lifeguard Training not offered in Session III.
