New Roadside Marker Honors Federick Douglass

Lt. Governor Aruna Miller today joined the Maryland Department of Transportation and descendants and relatives of Maryland native Frederick Douglass to celebrate the unveiling of a new roadside historical marker. The marker commemorates Douglass’ birth in Talbot County, self-liberation from slavery, and his work as an abolitionist, orator and human rights advocate. The event, held at the Talbot County Courthouse in Easton, marked the date of Douglass’ passing. February is also Black History Month and Douglass’ birth month. Read more

Step Back in Time at May 24 Talbot Resolves Celebration

The sounds of an old-fashioned Town Crier will resonate at the Talbot County Courthouse on Friday, May 24 as the community takes a step back in time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Talbot Resolves. The free public event kicks off at noon, rain or shine, with light refreshments served. Read more
