Summary:
The Recreation Program Assistant is responsible for supervising the set-up/teardown of recreation activities, reservations and events. The Recreation Program Assistant position will assist with maintaining a safe and enjoyable facility environment, while serving as the first point of contact for patrons and access control for the facility. Providing excellent customer service and support to patrons by providing conflict resolution, information about Recreation programs, services, and facilities, is also expected of a Recreation Program Assistant. This role requires flexibility and a hands-on attitude, as responsibilities may range from supervising events to handling last-minute tasks that come up. Schedules can change week to week, so adaptability and a team-oriented mindset are essential. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide exceptional customer service by looking up and sharing accurate information.
· Assists with supervision of participants in outdoor and recreation center-based programs or activities.
· Set up and break down equipment.
· Monitor activities and ensure a clean, safe, and supportive environment.
· Lead recreation activities.
· Assist with problem-solving and troubleshooting during programs or activities.
· Assist with cleaning and organizing of facility or program.
Qualifications:
· Must be at least 16 years old, 18 years old or older is preferred.
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Previous experience working in youth sports/recreation preferred.
· Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and varying hours based on program needs.
· Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities.
· Able to maintain attention and high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to spend majority the of time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
· Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
· Excellent communication skills.
