Talbot County is sharing warming center locations and extended hours from January 24–27 to support residents during this winter weather event.

  • Road Conditions

    During a snow and ice event, find out which road-clearing or salting operation is in effect. Drivers should:

    • Move and keep vehicles off snow emergency routes
    • Park in driveways or other off-road locations wherever possible
    • KNOW YOUR ROAD: Know who is responsible for maintaining your road, it could be a private road, County, town, or state. Use this MDOT Know Your Roads map to determine road type. 

    Snow Removal

    County Roads

    When a snow emergency is imminent, the Talbot County Roads Department is responsible for providing 'passable' conditions over a network of 370 miles of County maintained roadways. Treating roadways consists of plowing and/or salting as warranted by weather conditions.

    • The Roads Department has designed routes 
    • Primary roads will be plowed and treated during active snowfall. Once snow stops, resources will move into secondary areas. 
    • For snow removal requests, call 410-770-8150 24 Hours after the snow has ended.  

    Municipalities

    Municipalities are responsible for snow removal withing their borders. See information for each area: 

    State Roads

    Talbot County does not plow state roads. Roads identified by a number (Ex: US Rt 50, 33, 322). Please contact MDOT State
    Highway Administration for service information here: Website or check out the Statewide Transportation Operations Response Map (S.T.O.R.M) for tracking of SHA during winter activity.

  • Extreme Cold

    Winter weather increases the risk of car accidents, hypothermia, frostbite, carbon monoxide poisoning, and heart attacks from overexertion. Get tips to protect yourself and stay safe.

    Warming Centers

    In extremely cold temperatures, warming centers open for residents, especially the most vulnerable, to temporarily escape the elements.

  • Closings & Delays

    Keep up with the operating status of buildings and agencies, courts, and schools.
