Public Works implements the county's environmental, solid waste management and recycling programs. Our mission is to provide quality environmental and integrated solid waste management programs for the citizens of Talbot County.
Trash
Talbot County residents can drop off trash at the Midshore Regional Landfill Transfer Station, where it will transferred to Midshore II. The landfills are managed by Maryland Environmental Services.

Who should I contact about trash and recycling?
The Mid-Shore Regional Landfill may be reached at 410-820-8383. The Maryland Environmental Service, who manages the landfill and recycling in the County, may be reached at 410-729-8200. Other questions may be directed to Public Works at 410-770-8170.

Where does our trash go?
Talbot County directs private businesses that collect trash to dispose of it at a solid waste transfer station located at the Midshore Regional Solid Waste Facility 7341 Barkers Landing Road, Easton, MD 21601 before being transferred to other facilities.
Talbot County residents may also drop off their trash at the Midshore Regional Solid Waste Facility 7341 Barkers Landing Road, Easton, MD 21601.

What residential waste can be disposed of at the landfill?
The Mid-Shore Regional Landfill Transfer Station accepts many materials for disposal from county residents including: trash (up to 7 bags per trip), yard waste (up to 7 bags or small pick-up truck per trip) used oil and antifreeze, batteries, and recyclables. Homeowners may also bring the items for an additional fee: furniture, appliances, construction debris, scrap metal, tires.
Additional programs are offered throughout the year such as Tire Drop Day and Household Hazardous Waste Materials drop off day.

What are the hours of operation for the Landfill?

Mid-Shore Regional Landfill and Transfer Station
Homeowners may drop off trash (limit up to 7 bags daily) from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tipping Services (charged by weight) is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. There is NO Saturday or Sunday hours for the Talbot Transfer Scale house.

What fees are charged?
The Mid-Shore Regional Landfill Transfer Station charges a fee for residential and commercial waste, and brush and yard waste per ton. The facility also chares a per tire surcharge for dropping off tires at the facility.

My trash was not picked up today. What should I do?
You should contact your private trash collector about any problems with service. Talbot County does not perform nor manage the trash collection services.

Where can I dispose of tires?
Tires are accepted for a nominal fee at the Midshore Regional Solid Waste Facility located at 7341 Barkers Landing Road, Easton, MD 21601.

What is the availability of mulch and compost?

Where can I dispose of sledge or solid bio waste?
The Mid-Shore Regional Landfill and Transfer station does NOT accept sledge or solid bio-waste. The Talbot County Bio-solids Utilization Facility accepts bio-solid waste, specifically septage and grease waste.
