Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised here on the Eastern Shore in Queen Anne’s County. I graduated from Queen Anne's County High School in 2020. I then moved south to attend the University of Mississippi, where I graduated with my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Homeland Security & National Security/Intelligence.
Shortly after, I returned to my alma mater and graduated with a master's degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Emergency Management #GOREBS.
When I moved back to the Shore, I wanted to serve my community. You can find me around Easton, coaching figure skating for the local ice-skating club & hanging out with my two dogs, Molly & Remy!
What made you decide to join “Team Talbot?”
I decided to join the team here in Talbot due to wanting to give back to the community I was raised in, as well as the draw to the growing town of Easton!
Talbot County as a whole has a lot to offer for young professionals, and I only see it growing from here.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? What is the most challenging?
The most rewarding part of my job is getting to know and reach out to members of our community. I love being able to interact and teach life-saving/preparation skills to our citizens.
The most challenging part of my job is that everything is always changing, which leaves a lot for my department to keep up with and to be in the know about.
What kind of community engagement do you do as Emergency Services Coordinator?
As the Emergency Management Coordinator, I have begun expanding our community outreach.
I teach our bi-annual CERT classes, teach Stop The Bleed, assist with teaching CPR, give preparedness presentations to groups and communities, table at events to spread information, and tons more.
DES truly makes an effort to provide the community with what they want and need- It's one of the things I love most about my job!
What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone looking to get into the emergency services field?
One piece of advice I would give anyone looking to get into the emergency services field is to try a bit of everything!
It is so valuable to understand the different aspects of emergency services and all the various roles & responsibilities that occur to respond to an emergency!
Whether it's Emergency Medicine, Emergency Management, or Fire Rescue, all roles play a key part in our success!
