Recreational Program Coordinator

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: 47,000 (Base) - 53,000 DOQ

Position Reporting: Director of Parks & Recreation

Summary:

The Recreation Program Coordinator assists with all aspects of the Department’s recreational programming including sports programs, special events, summer camp and pool activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, schedule, organize, promote, supervise, and evaluate recreation programs and special events.
  • Organize and develop manual and written standards for programs;
  • Recruit, train and supervise part-time recreation personnel.
  • Establish and maintain exceptional partnerships with volunteers, community based organizations, public agencies, and other collaborators.
  • Provide model customer service to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Ability to conceive, articulate, and implement innovative approaches to recreation and customer service delivery.
  • Provide programs and facilities that meet the needs of a diverse community.
  • Ability to integrate parks and recreation programs into other county services and participate with other public service community development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, or a related field.
  • A combination of education and demonstrated work experience will be considered.
  • Exceptional communication skills necessary to promote the department’s mission in a professional, congenial manner.
  • Ability to maintain cohesive relationships with staff and public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of MyRec software program preferred
  • Must be able to travel county-wide.
  • Flexible work schedule that will include seasonal evening and weekend hours.
