Reynolds Excavating Inc., the prime contractor for Phase Two of the Airfield Modernization Program, obtained the necessary demolition permit from the Town of Easton on March 5, 2025, clearing the way for immediate tear-down activities. At the February 25th meeting, the Talbot County Council discussed the sewer connection issue at Paris Foods with the Town of Trappe and emphasized the need for improved municipal coordination. Council recognized TCPS Teacher of the Year Jeremy Hillyard and Support Staff of the Year Rosario Steele for their dedication to students and honored Water’s Edge Museum for preserving Black history on the Eastern Shore. Key approvals included funding for Chesapeake College’s facilities plan, a general fund reserve policy, and additional support for Upper Shore Aging’s meal programs. Read more

New Roadside Marker Honors Federick Douglass

Lt. Governor Aruna Miller today joined the Maryland Department of Transportation and descendants and relatives of Maryland native Frederick Douglass to celebrate the unveiling of a new roadside historical marker. The marker commemorates Douglass’ birth in Talbot County, self-liberation from slavery, and his work as an abolitionist, orator and human rights advocate. The event, held at the Talbot County Courthouse in Easton, marked the date of Douglass’ passing. February is also Black History Month and Douglass’ birth month. Read more
Emergency Services Hosts Annual Lifesaver Marathon: Free CPR Training and Community Safety Event

The Talbot County Department of Emergency Services (DES) is excited to announce the return of the Lifesaver Marathon, a free, community-wide event dedicated to CPR training and lifesaving education. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2025, and offer hands-on training in CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, and other critical emergency response skills. Read more
