Talbot County Achieves Top Bond Rating for Excellence in Finance

Talbot County is pleased to announce that Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed the county's ratings at "AAA" for both its Issuer Default Rating (IDR) and General Obligation (GO) bonds. In their press release, Fitch Ratings notes the “AAA” rating “reflects Talbot’s resilience, underscored by ample budgetary flexibility, and Fitch’s expectation that the county will sustain reserves at or above 7.5%. The county’s long-term liability profile is assessed as ‘strongest’.” Read more

Easton Elks supports Talbot Goes Purple

Now in its eighth year, Talbot Goes Purple (TGP) is a substance use prevention program that empowers our youth and our community to ‘Go Purple’ as a sign of taking a stand against substance abuse. The initiative includes purple clubs in our middle and high schools through which students learn they do not need drugs or alcohol to meet life’s challenges. The purpose of the project is to promote the ‘new conversation’ – one that includes prescription drugs, alcohol, marijuana and e-cigarettes. Read more


Council Attends Groundbreaking for St Vincent de Paul Expansion

SVDP was awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, which is processed by Talbot County Government locally. In addition, the Talbot County Council was able to allocate $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support the project. Read more

Emergency Services Deploys Drone During Hazmat Incident

On July 24, 2024 Talbot County Emergency Services responded to a Hazmat incident on St. Michaels Road. During the incident, Emergency Services deployed the use of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), commonly known as a drone, to provide visual support of the affected area. Read more

Talbot County Burn Ban Concludes July 21, 2024

The Talbot County Council enacted an Administrative Resolution imposing a complete ban on all open-air burning throughout the county on June 21, 2024. Following recent rain, the Burn Ban Committee has recommended to Council to let the ban expire as expected on July 21, 2024. Read more
