The Talbot County Board of Elections held an Elections open house, inviting the public to meet election staff and learn more about the voting process on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The Board of Elections recently moved into a new office space at 215 Bay Street, Suite 7, Easton, Maryland. Prior to the move, the Board of Elections managed two locations, one office on Bay Street, and another at the Talbot Business Center (former Black and Decker Building).  Th combination of the two spaces brings the office staff together and provides additional security for the election process.

“We are extremely grateful to be able to use this new space, and the County has been very helpful in completing construction and getting the necessary network and power set up to maintain our voting equipment,” said Tammy Stafford, Election Director for Talbot County Board of Elections.

During the Open House, visitors were able to tour the facility, ask questions about the voting process, and learn about the opportunity to serve as an election judge.

The tour included checking out the new office space for the staff, and the election equipment work area. Visitors also had the opportunity to participate in a demonstration election.

Shortly after the tour, Senator Johnny Mautz, Delegate Tom Hutchison, and Members of the Talbot County Council gathered to present Mr. Joe Secrist with a Maryland General Assembly Citation and Senate Resolution honoring his many years of service serving on the Talbot County Board of Elections.

The Board of Elections has been preparing for the 2024 Presidential Election throughout the year, including the move to the new office space and participation in various community events, providing voter education and recruiting election judges.

“We work throughout the year preparing for the election, but we also want voters to be prepared when they go to the polls. We encourage them to review their voter registration information, find out about polling place locations, and learn about the election process,” said Stafford.

The Board of Elections is actively recruiting election judges. Election judges assist voters in the voting process and ensure the integrity of the election. All applications are welcome.
