Operation Green Light Activates on Monday, November 4 to Honor Veterans

Talbot County Implements Burn Ban Effective October 25, 2024

Emergency Services Welcomes Two New Full-Time EMTs Following Completion of Apprenticeship Program

Talbot County Achieves Top Bond Rating for Excellence in Finance

Talbot County is pleased to announce that Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed the county's ratings at "AAA" for both its Issuer Default Rating (IDR) and General Obligation (GO) bonds. In their press release, Fitch Ratings notes the “AAA” rating “reflects Talbot’s resilience, underscored by ample budgetary flexibility, and Fitch’s expectation that the county will sustain reserves at or above 7.5%. The county’s long-term liability profile is assessed as ‘strongest’.” Read more

Easton Elks supports Talbot Goes Purple

Now in its eighth year, Talbot Goes Purple (TGP) is a substance use prevention program that empowers our youth and our community to ‘Go Purple’ as a sign of taking a stand against substance abuse. The initiative includes purple clubs in our middle and high schools through which students learn they do not need drugs or alcohol to meet life’s challenges. The purpose of the project is to promote the ‘new conversation’ – one that includes prescription drugs, alcohol, marijuana and e-cigarettes. Read more

Corrections Facility Receives Recognition of Achievement Award

An audit of the Talbot County Department of Corrections (TCDC) was conducted on September 12-13, 2023 by the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards, Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. After a thorough review, TCDC was found to be in total compliance with all standards of an Adult Detention Center. This is Talbot County’s second time achieving total compliance in the initial audit. Upcoming Road Closure for Culvert Improvement on Goldsborough Neck Road

The culvert at the intersection of Goldsborough Neck Road and Glebe Road will be replaced in early February 2024. Starting on February 19th, (weather dependent), Goldsborough Neck Road will be closed to all traffic, and the road will need to remain closed for up to 30 days. Upper Shore Aging Opens Upgrades Computer Lab at the Talbot County Senior Center Brookletts Place

Talbot County Senior Center at Brookletts in Easton recently held a ribbon cutting to open its upgraded computer lab. Upper Shore Aging was awarded a $33,356 T-Mobile Hometown Grant to update the Talbot County Senior Center’s technology, including 20 new computer stations to provide the senior community with access to connectivity, classes, and hands-on learning opportunities. Brookletts Place, dedicated in 2009, is part of Upper Shore Aging, Inc., a nonprofit organization that is the designated Area Agency on Aging (USA) for Talbot, Caroline, and Kent counties.
